Transeuropa Ferry History |
|
TransEuropa Ferries established 1998, offers the only direct ferry service between the UK and the Belgium ports. TransEuropa Ferries provide both passenger and freight services on this route. TransEuropa Ferries established only to provide a direct freight link between UK and Belgium, have extended their services to provide passenger services as well in 2001.
Ramsgate is one of the UK's better connected ports and has a dedicated port road link to the largely dual carriageway A249, near to the M2 motorway.
At Ostend (spelt locally: Oostende), the A10/E40 motorway begins 200m from the Trans europa ferry terminal and delivers you directly into the Belgian, Dutch and German motorway network.
Compared with other cross-Channel services, Transeuropa's ships are a relatively old generation and offer an alternative to the better-known Dover (UK) to Calais (France) ferries.
Habitually operated by Eastern European crews (often Slovenian and Croatian) the service is personal due to the high crew-to-passenger ratio; both the transport itself and the catering on board are considerably cheaper than on most other cross-Channel ferries.
